Two and a half years ago on a Wednesday Lynn took me to the emergency department at the Hospital because of head and neck aches. I told him to go and I’d call when I’m ready to come home.
I walked in and the person at the front desk took me into one of the emergency rooms. I was impressed with all the gadgets around the bed. My vitals taken and blood drawn the only thing off was my temp 99 degrees. Knowing my past that ment trouble.
I told about my head and neck aches and off for an X-ray. Then back in my room a Doctor and a psychiatrist walked in. Taking a deep breath the Doctor told me they saw a large mass in my brain. They both stood there waiting for me to react and I didn’t but, my body did. I had a seizure. My first.
At that time Doctor Zupruk walked by saying he knew what that is. Yeah so did I but, I could not stop it. Off to the MRI with you. The Nurse was doing the old two-step to get me there quickly. There was one taken without contrast and another with. Then back to my room again and to my surprise he had the pictures up on his computer already saying you have a tumor call your Husband.
So, I did and he came and then into Dr. Zupruks’ office we went. By that time the seizure stopped. Turning his computer on there was my skull. I was tracing the outline saying it was a beautiful! With the magic of the computer it rotated the image around to the back of my skull and he pointed, there it is. Lynn and I both looked as Dr. Zupruk explained it was a meningioma tumor the size of a plum in the cerebellum hitting the spinal cord.
Lynn and I looked at each other and I burst out laughing. Lynn told the Doctor I get like that a lot. Well the Doctor wasn’t laughing. What was the word he used? Oh yeah, this tumor is growing exponentially and with what he saw I did not have much time. Tick-tick-tick. I laughed again and that helped Lynn with his emotions seeing me take all the news in high spirit. finally the Doctor loosened up and said that thing must have started growing since the Carter Administration.
Doctor Zupruk a Progressive Neurosurgeon along with his partner Dr.Pollack. They were taking my case now and started to pull a team together for the surgery.
Lynn shook his hand and at that moment he knew I was under good care. As I was heading to ICU and Lynn home he turned to the Doctor and said she’s your problem now, with a big smile. Lynn knew the Doctor had no idea at the time what he ment.
was a walk over the bridge to school. The move would make it a half mile longer. A strainge thing about the water under the bridge. At times it would run yellow, red, blue and green. Later I found out there was a paper mill up stream. And in the new home you could see the Prison as the crow flies, but it was a walkable distance. Wow, those Prison walls were high and thick with a look out post on each square corner.
with my pole and try to catch them. The fish had big rings on their backs and my fish hook was big one. Had fun. I once hit my little sister on the head. Dad saw that and boy did I run to no avail. He got me and lifted me up with that big hand over my arm and swung his hand and pushed me up. I never did that again, well not in front of him. One time I walked to the edge of the driveway and did he yell. He was on a latter which made him look so much bigger than he was. Boy was I running back into the lawn. Their was a picture of me held in time because my Mom and Dad thought it was so funny. There was a big flower pot on the porch with a plant in it. I had dirt all around my mouth and made circles in more dirt around the pot on the floor. Have you ever tried to eat dirt? Well it’s bland and gritty. Nope don’t recommend it. There came a day I was on my swing set when I saw a huge dark cloud coming out of the woods. My eyes and mouth popped open. I sat in fear of moving. When it got too close to the swing that’s when I started to scream and scream. It engulfed the swings by that time. Mom came out to see what was going on. I buried my face into her skirt and told her what I saw. She said to me nothing was there. Still too afraid to look we stood there until I took a peek and she was right. It as gone. The tying of the shoes. Dad sat over me and showed me how to do it,over and over and over and over again until got it. Pretty good for a three and a half old I think. Mom and Dad where sitting on the kitchen chairs and I could see the legs attached to the table. Small was I. Then I heard from Dad “Look who’s up!”
